IL Section ASCE EWRI Chicago River Tour
June 7 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
The Illinois Section of ASCE will sponsor a tour of the Chicago River on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 11:00 AM. The tour will be conducted by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) on their pollution control boat and will last three hours. The boat will return to Ping Tom Park at the end of tour. A box lunch will be served during the tour. The boat has an enclosed cabin and a restroom. We will assemble at the pagoda in Ping Tom Park which is located at 19th Street and the Chicago River in Chicago, Illinois. The location can be accessed from the Chicago Transit Authority’s Red Line Cermak (2200 South) Station. Due to construction, there is very limited street parking on Wentworth Avenue. There is a pay parking lot east of Wentworth, south of Archer Avenue. Proceed to Wentworth Avenue to West 19th Street and walk west into Ping Tom Park. The boat dock is located at the pagoda in the park. We will be escorted by a MWRD guide to discuss the history of the Chicago River and answer questions. Attendees will receive 2.0 professional development hours from the Illinois Section’s Environmental and Water Resources Institute.
There is no charge for this tour. The MWRD will require a copy of a valid photo ID and completed release form to be submitted in advance. We are limited to a total of 13 attendees. If you would like to attend please contact Jerry McGovern at email@example.com.
