TECHNICAL GROUPS
Technical Groups are the heartbeat of the Illinois Section and generate the society's programs and opportunities for professional development of civil engineers. The Groups conduct regular technical meetings and four to six lecture series annually. Some 30 + Illinois Section members are involved directly with the planning of these programs through the five specialty Technical GroupsStructural Group

Timothy C. Gall, P.E. - Chair
This position attends monthly IL-ASCE board meetings, organizes agenda for monthly structural committee meeting, and acts as a contact between ASCE Illinois Section Board and Structural Group, and the ASCE website.
Zaida Morillo, P.E. - Vice Chair
This position coordinates the monthly dinner meeting, including scheduling location, menu, and gifts, maintains database of speakers, and also assists and fills in for Chair in their absence.
Victor Van Santen, P.E., S.E. - Secretary
This position prepares and distributes monthly meeting minutes and is in charge of advertising and reservations for the monthly dinner meeting.
Nate Morriss, P.E., S.E. - Treasurer
This position keeps financial records for the group, handles the groups income and expenses, and submits monthly reports to the group.
Jameelah C. Muhammad, E.I.- Student Liaison
This position handles contact with university student chapters and solicits applications for group scholarship(s) to be presented at the President Elect/Student Awards dinner every April and also distributes applications to the group for review and notifies the winners.
Julie Babush-Rivera, E.I. - Special Events
This position organizes special events, such as field trips, of interest to structural engineering professionals and investigates new ideas for activities and events.

Special Events
On June 14, 2008, the Structural Group sponsored a tour of a steel plant in Gary, Indiana. About 30 members participated in the tour.
